The Catalan company Nanimarquina, with headquarters in Barcelona, produces its
carpets exclusively in India. Only there, can one find traditional hand-made carpet
production of the highest quality and perfection. Nanimarquina also supports a
social programme there: Cair&Fair, thus ensuring that all Nanimarquina-carpets
are made without the use of child labour. For more than 20 years, willed irregularities
and unusual shapes in Spanish traditional style have been the trademark of Nanimarquina
carpets. A carpet from this Spanish company is not just designed for walking on,
it entices you to relax. Proformshop gives you an overview of these interesting
and unique pieces. The company for hand tufted carpets was founded in 1987 and
besides carpets, also produces other textile products such as cushions. In 1988
they also began exporting to Germany and Japan. And thanks to the Heimtextil in
Frankfurt, an international market opened up to them. In 1990 a new collection
was created, which distinguishes itself by the use of alternative materials. Since
1993 Nanimarquina has been producing some of the collections of these exceptional
carpets in Northern India, with great success. From 1996 onwards, the Catalans
concentrated on the further development of their product design. They invested
in new textile series, such as Cuadros (squares), which became one of their trademarks.
Their international fame is constantly growing; in 2002 their turnover increased
by another 30%. Between 2002 and 2003 the company structure was enhanced: henceforth
there were additional departments for sales, public relations, graphic design
and product design. The cooperation with various external designers such as Diego
Fortunato, Emil Padros and Ana Mir was increased. A new line of products carrying
the name basic nanimarquina came onto the market in 2005 and marked a generational
change in the company. The exceptional carpets won several design awards in the
following years of 2005 and 2006.
