The company Ferlea was founded in 1959 by Milvo Benini. Originally Ferlea exclusively produced hallway as well as complementary furnishings. In 1961 Ferlea created small, mainly classic-styled upholstered furniture for the first time. In 1980 Ferlea finally started to be geared to the trends and needs of the furniture market. The times, in which Ferlea designed classic furniture, were gone. Products of the highest innovative standard were the result. From that time on Ferlea uses special, high quality materials and is characterised by particularly detailed working. These improvements caused Milvo Benini to call on the assistance of a professional team lead by Gabriella Zecca. It was Beninis aim to grant Ferlea a new character and more individuality. The plan acted out well and Ferlea carved out its own place in the first league of the design furniture sector. Common projects with professional designers like Rodolfo Dordoni, Aldo Cibic and Alberto Livore followed. Ferleas products are characterised by design quality, careful choice of materials, versatility and strength of character. A considerable name relating to Ferlea is among others Enzo Berti. This famous designer was born in Venice in 1950 and studied together with Alberto Viani at the Belle Arti Academy in Venice. Primarily he worked independently but now concentrates on the cooperation with well-known companies like Artemide, Cadel, La Palma, Magis and of course Ferlea. Ferlea owes Berti for example products like ZIG ZAG, Shell or Bagnante, which enjoy great popularity. The sculptural chair ZIG ZAG consists of a wooden frame that is upholstered with polyurethane-foam and polyester fibres. Depending on the cover ZIG ZAG can be used indoor as well as outdoor.
